HOW MUCH DO YOU SPEND ON THE FOOD SHOP??
I remember running a poll on how much a week people spend on their food shop and it was a huge surprise to me that 95% of the people I asked spent over £100 a week on food!!
As a family of five, we spend no more than £80 on the food shop a week (this can most weeks include nappies and toiletries)
I get that people want to buy plenty of food in, but surely some people with average sized family spending over £150 a week, must be wasting food!!
We tend to buy all our meat at the local market and everything else in Iceland, Aldi and Asda. I presume people are doing the food shop all under the same roof and not shopping around for the deals. I get that it’s easier to turn up in your car and just get everything at once but it’s not the most sensible option on your bank account.
I want to throw things at the TV when I watch ‘Eat Well For Less’. The thing that stands out during this programme is the amount of people that are brand loyal. Branded products are usually more expensive and made in exactly the same factory as the unbranded stuff!!
Next time you go shopping think about what you’re buying. Do you need it? Can I get cheaper elsewhere? Is there an unbranded equivalent??
I issue you all a challenge….
Try and save £20 on your weekly food bill by either buying less or shopping more wisely. If you save £20 every week for a year that’s your holiday payed for!! OVER £1000!!!
Let me know the amount you spend a week…
